Mirko Caballero Adds Sit to Seven Spanish Angels

A low start had been added to Seven Spanish Angels on the Get Carter Boulder by Charlie Barrett back in 2010, but a true sit remained. This week Mirko Caballero started a little to the right and managed to get it done:

I think Dan Beall said he did this a few years back...

Great Job on an amazing boulder. However, pretty obvious line not to have already been done!

I tried this the other day. I'm not even sure how to approach the subject or how I feel, but I just want to say that for a normal-sized person, this "sit" start is heinous. It's like two feet off the ground. I'm 5'10 with a +4 ape and I could barely fit myself into the position he started in. Also, sitting on one 4" pad I could easily reach the next pair of holds from the ground.

If I wanted to climb this line I would still try to start it per the FA's choice of holds, but it does raise an interesting quandary in climbing now that kids are starting to get super strong..

I thought about this too, jf. It looks incredibly scrunched for him, and I'm 6'1. I have yet to get out there to try it, but ya... I guess if there are problems that restrict folks on height in one direction, we are bound to see that start to happen on the other (shorter) side for low sit starts.

I'm 5'8 and climbed this recently and found no trouble from a size perspective. But I was very surprised that I did it the same way as Mirko. Thought it was a cool addition.

A little late to chime in, great job Mirko! I did this thing some time in 2009 from that low rail in the same place as mirko. Kinda a crunched sit / lay down start. Probably not V11 either... Movement's fun enough though, and definitely not the most contrived thing I've done lol.

I'm 5'8 and tried this from the low start like Mirko and found that it fit me well. I climbed from the sit-through the stand to the last move but didn't finish it. Although I didn't send, I felt it was V10ish. Any consensus on the grade?

don't know about consensus on the grade, but i think we can find a consensus on how awful the music to that video is. ;)
